We haven't butchered yet, will keep you posted. We're going to do a piglet for Christmas dinner this year. We're looking into some of the butchering places. Was not happy with the place that did our beef. Hopefully soon. Not sure if we're going to have two done or not. The boar really had...

Wanting t get a breeding pair of pigs for a few purposes ....

You also might want to try AI if you get sows. I've heard it works really well with pigs. You can risk health problems to your stock if someone else's has any kind of worms, lice or other communicable illness. I'm not saying it will happen, it's just a possibility. We try to be careful here...

Hoover67, where abouts are you located? If you purchase now you will have to provide winter feeding and that might be difficult you being new to pigs. I would do research this winter and then purchase in the spring. Of course, this is a good time to get a good deal. But you don't want to...

I won't be able to tell you until after we butcher these. We have sold all the piglets that were born here. We've sold all over the state and even in Virginia. We sold three to a family in Markham, VA not too far from our daughter who lives in Centreville. She was able to deliver our last...

What to do about ear mites! Help!

Using Almond oil is extremely good for this. I use it on my cats and I would assume that mites will be the same on rabbits. The almond oil is very light and it is not a chemical. The mineral has petroleum in it and not a good idea. I used to be a dog groomer and that's what I used.
