Hahah you would think it was a gourmet buffet outside! They are constantly nibbling away on the trees! Alrighty I think I will look into some fencing and see if I can do some large squares around each tree that the goats can lean over....hmmmm...goats are tricky creatures lol!
Hi guys!
When we first got our ND and our Mini La Mancha, their milk tasted perfect! After a couple weeks I noticed that they were nibbling on our newly planted pine trees and their milk is starting to taste "goaty". My boyfriend won't even drink it now lol! Is there a trick to keep goats from...
I haven't seen any signs of giardia or any other parasites, I really feel she is just depressed. I talked with the breeder, really amazing lady, and mentioned that if by Friday she isn't over being homesick I might bring her back. I'm not worried about getting refunded, I just want Fran the goat...
Hahhaha!!! That is too funny! I have a close call! I opened the back and immediately she flew out and relieved herself lol! They fit nicely in the back of my Escape so I was very happy about that. Still need to clean the carpet in the back from the "nervous pee" she had when she first got...
Hi guys!
We got our two goats last Thursday (a Mini La Mancha named Civie and a Nigerian Dwarf named Francine)!
Fran the ND was doing great the first couple of days and now she seems to really miss her family and is getting worse. :( Her owner and family were very close to Fran, in addition...
Hi everyone!
We picked up our Nigerian Dwarf and Mini Mancha the other day. We have two English Bulldogs (wrinkly couch potato dogs) and they are great with our animals (cat, chickens, etc.) We want them to be able to share our fenced in acre/backyard with the goats...but Francine the Nigerian...
Hi guys!
This won't change my decision to drink and eat our upcoming goat's dairy products, but....how many of you found that you were filling out your jeans a little bit more after eating/drinking the milk products lol? Do the goats keep you active enough to help cut back on adding pounds? I'm...
Hi there!
Any advice for transporting the two Nigerian dwarf does that we are getting (boyfriend has a F150 and I have a ford escape...and a large dog kennel. I heard they can ride in the car for an hour in your back seat until they need a break?)
And is there any special "coming home"...
Well it is official...the goat shed/coop is being built!
It is 16' long by 10' wide. 8' peek in the middle with rafters for storage. The chicken area will be divided, including their chicken feed, so the goats won't be able to munch away on the chicken's food.
We will be painting it the...
Hi there!
I am getting ready for our new goats next month and wanted to make sure I have everything set up. I have a BUNCH of chlorahexadine from our English Bulldog's wrinkle cleaning solution we make.
What would the ratio be for a udder wash? Can you fill it in a spray bottle instead of...
Hi there!
We are considering buying a buck if we can't find a buck service nearby. We live just north of you in Williamston. :) I am familiar with does, but how long does a buck male take to mature?
Thanks! *Also! if you have any milking does available please let us know!* Take care!
Hi everyone!
Looking to buy 2-3 milking Nigerian dwarf does, and am considering buying a buck (unless I can find a buck/stud service nearby in Michigan?).
We live just south of Lansing in Williamston, MI. Hoping to have our goats this spring/summer! Thank you!
Any known breeders, farms or...
Hi there!
Any luck finding Nigerian dwarf does in milking? I am looking for the exact thing and am south of Lansing in Williamston. Hoping to find some does before summer lol! If I hear from someone I'll let you know also!
Hi everyone!
We are planning to buy two milking does sometime this spring/summer and are very excited!
We're updating our budget and I was wondering what the average milking doe (Nigerian Dwarf) costs to feed per year/month. I've read anywhere from $60-$100 per goat per month.
I know the...
I am hoping to get the new shelter put together by March/April, and there are a few people in Michigan that should have some nannies ready by May/June! Gahhhh!!! I want goats now lol! Always loved them when I was little, they would eat my pants whenever we visited the farm :)
Thank you guys!!! SO helpful! :)
The chicken coop/goat house is actually divided by a wall/screen with a door that can connect the two areas so the chicken feed would be out of reach of the goats :) I heard they like chicken feed! The goats and chickens will have free reign of our entire back...
Hi guys!
Got a couple questions! (I'm a user from backyardchickens.com and just joined herds)
1) Does anyone have the curious combination of pygmy goats (or any dairy goats) and chickens? Any issues?
We're thinking of selling our old chicken coop that we fixed up and buying a chicken...
