I am so sorry for your loss!:hit I work for the local humane society at a discount spay/neuter clinic and we see alot of cases of animals being abandoned. I have also lost a bottle baby recently and I know the pain of that loss. You will be in my prayers.
I have pygmy goats so I am not sure if its the same thing but, I would not keep my billy with the herd all the time only for breeding time. I made the mistake early when I first got my goats and didn't know better and I had a 3 month old female that came into season and when I noticed the billy...
I don't trust sale barns much especially if you don't know much about gaots. They can have URI and pink eye and ulser issues in their mouths that you can get from them!:hit If you have a farmer's and consumer's market bulletin check it or your local feed store.:thumbsup
I made the mistake when I was very new at taking in new animals and allowed 6 new goats to come into my herd of three with out quarentine time and I lost my baby goat to an URI and almost lost her mom. Be very careful who you buy from and where you get them and always keep them apart!
