Okay -- this year, 75 or 85 or something -- whatever! LOL well, the truth is we're kidding or about to in several different places and so don't have a count but...
1 Boer buck in waiting
2 bucklings due to be wethered
4 grown wethers
1 young wether (my bottle baby this year)
56 Boer, Boer/Kiko...
We have 4 Fainting Goat crosses (NG and Boer, 2 each) 1 Fainting Goat Buck, 1 Boer Buck, 40 Boer and Boer %age does, 9 new or nearly new babies, 2 Nigerian Dwarf does and a buck.
We started the goats to give us something constructive to do and to utilize the farm instead of leasing it.
This...
Yours sure are pretty! We lost little Mikey today -- the one with the cafe au lait colored markings. He was going to come live with me, and Chris did his best to save him, but he is gone. My Coco (FG/Boer cross) is that color.
Heh heh....Thanks! Her name is Nightfall -- my (going to be 80 in Sept) mom named her...."She fell out at night! She should be Nightfall!" It was her first time to see baby goats born, and she thinks Nightfall is awesome, too.
ETA: Hey, I'm getting YOUR little buck for her! He's awesome, too!
Yep'm. Libby is 4 and this is the 4th year she has had triplets. Abby had 4, 5, 6 and 2 this year. She had such a difficult time giving birth I will not breed her again. Libby popped them out like muffins out of the oven, all over in less than an hour....barely a groan. She may get another...
Libby had her kids tonight! Her labor was so easy and fast...I was relieved. She's only 6 days early.
The mom and new babies!
More pics of Abby's twins, she brought them to the barn door to show them off:

(Edited to show pics)
He's gorgeous! And the one on the left is colored up like CoCo, our FG/Boer cross doeling I hand raised...

Isn't she the one Tina wants??? ;)
Tada!!!! One of my girls (Abby) had them a week early -- she had six last year, 5 the year before, 4 the year before -- this time...ONLY TWO! Yippee! I'm not sure she would have made it with more. She labored 1/2 hour with the first, and 3 more hours with the second, and another hour with...
Did all six survive -- Yes. They told me they almost lost the doe, but the babies lived. I might have hesitated to breed her again, knowing that, but they did it anyway.
My Nigerian Dwarf nannies were bred at the earliest 2/28 according to their former owner. The tail ligaments are softening and the bags are filling up -- even though that breeding date would make 'em due around 7/28 if they go full term.
Since one nanny had 3 last year and the other had 6 (...
My Goat Sanitation Team is a flock of chickens...they pick the poop apart and scratch it up. There's a thick layer of hay (about 8") in the barn, but the chickens go through it all. When you sweep it out, it's just dirt.
A beautiful baby! One way to cool them and avoid drafts is to freeze some water in 16 oz plastic soft drink bottles and wrap them in a heavy towel.
Some of my babies drink water right away, and others don't until they 1) see mama do it and 2) have a water source they can reach. (Our mama goat...
I don't know where you are...but here in Southwest Virginia, our soils are extremely low in Selenium. The vet recommends that the kids be given a shot of vitamin E and selenium as soon after they are born as possible....maybe you have some soil mineral deficiency that would be that easy to...
We buy feed grade powdered molasses to add to the grain/feed ration for any of ours needing supplements...you might want to make sure you have a creep feeder set up for him to make sure he gets enough food without having to fight for it.
Also, as long as he's getting a balanced goat ration...
Looks like you've got them started really well! What I've learned I've learned through terror, trial, and error having started with a very sick herd of Boers that we've worked hard to pull through their first 6 months with us.
* I had the vet teach me to tube feed. This will help if you've...
