My doe, Lily who is 3 weeks post part em is bleating constantly. It started last night, I sat with her and rubbed her this seemed to calm her. Her abdomen was distended and harder on the one side. I compared her to her 'sister' who kidded on the same day and they seemed the same, so I didn't...
Some Background:
We just survived our first kidding and are learning the ropes of milking. We have 2 FF NDs that kidded 8 days ago. We are not getting much milk. We are not separating our kids from the does -we are being cautious this first year, I am afraid of not milking them out...
Wow! Thank you for all the responses and great info! Bella has been with the adult goats alone many times, but I've read not to leave a great Pyr under 18 months old alone with newborns. The baby goats are one week old today. I've introduced her to the babies, the 3rd picture I posted shows...
Congratulations! Hope they are settling down for you. When you combine the chickens and goats, how will you keep your goats out of the chicken feed? My goats will do Anything for chicken feed. I recently read of a person who spikes their chicken feed with hot pepper flakes, this won't hurt...
Thank you!
No babies yet, but we're seeing some yellow discharge from the lady parts. I am squeezing in a quick vacation before the babies come and I'm tied to the farm. We are only away for 2 days, but pretty stressed that the babies will come while I'm gone. I cleaned out the 'birthing...
Being new to this, I am always looking to learn more, could you tell me please some tell tale signs of still looking like a kid, and some signs of an adult style body?
Well, it's official! The vet came last week and gave my Lily love a CDT shot and a look over. She's got a nice bag going and should kid within the next few weeks. We also bred her 'sister', they had a double date with 2 unrelated bucks. I am looking forward to some babies! Sooo excited AND...
Thanks for your help guys! We barely broke even with our TSC Feed last year, I should have gotten more info on this crappy feed before I drove an hour and a half to pick it up. Looks like my search will continue.
Our pigs will go anywhere for a marshmallow. We pop one on the end of a stick and lead them around. When market day comes, we use cattle panels and an extra board on the ground so the pigs don't need to step up at all to board the trailer.
Hey there! We got our 4H feeder pigs a few weeks ago. I'm noticing a really sour smell coming from their area, could this be some sort of yeast? I did buy some feed that is LOW in protein and very yellow. I've been supplementing their feed with eggs and am wondering if the feed I have is...
So very exciting! What a beautiful boy, and I LOvE the name! We have our first 2 that are going to kid in July, now I'm thinking bottle babies are the way to go, how in the world do I keep them separate from Mum?
