So cute! I love chickens, they are my most absolute favorite animal. I have roughly 60ish chickens. I have blue/splash Silkies, currently 8, for my kids and they just adore them. Silkies are just the cutest, I love your black Silkies, the other ones are adorable as well.

Im glad to have found this. Just today I noticed that one of my ND does has hair lose around her eyes, she also dandruff. I thought it was strange since I have looked them over so many times over winter and early Spring for lice, never saw a thing. Didn't really dawn on me they could have mites...

No I did not give them extra calcium, only laying hens need extra calcium. Extra calcium in not good for young birds or rooster. I did give them a higher protein feed.

This is my goat house we built for 2 ND does made from scrap wood I had been collecting. It is roughly 8x4 and 5.5ft high and the hay feeder is mounted inside their house. The pen is kind or circle shaped so I don't know the square footage. I plan to build a separate milking shed this summer.
