2-day Old Kid with Eye Infection

I went out to the barn this morning to find our 2-day old doeling with eyes sealed completely shut. I took warm water and a wash cloth and attempted to clean them off, but it doesn't seem to be working very well. No other signs of illness. Her temp is good, she is active and curious (as much as a kid can be when they can't see).

Has any one else ever run into this problem? I'm not even sure what I should treat her with.

being both eyes it is likely an infection rather than injury or foreign body. For goopy eyes, I always assume pink eye first. If you have some good quality honey UNPASTEURIZED just mix 1 part to 1 part with previously boiled (sterilized) water that has been cooled. Dissolve the honey in the water and spoon or drop liberally into both eyes. This remedy works within 24 hours….do the drops 2 or 3 times a day.

Thanks! I'll try that. I'm guessing it's a bad plan to let her nurse mama until her eyes are better, given that eye infections are contagious?
