Man, sheep continue to be picky, of course.
Some bales are more stemmy, others very nice & they clean it up.
Stemmy stuff they leave behind, i flip it a few times so they get all of the good stuff. If I didn't have at least one pony, it'd be a lot of waste! But I've got 4 & they suck it right up! 😅

I have a feeling I may have a lot of late lambers or some not lambing at all. Because of the drought & how weird they've been about hay.
I might keep them in breeding groups until March first, as I'll still have to haul hay to the old barn for the bull & the rams. Might as well keep it all as is. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Heat and drought did a number on my flock. In April I put 7 ewes with ram, and got nothing. But in July, some ewes threw themselves against the fence, 6 of them. Then 3 in August, one of them twice more in September. Dont you idiots know it’s HOT?

I traded 2 of the bred ewes to a friend who has given me a LOT of help here. He was rewarded with a set of healthy triplets and a set of twins.

5 of the other ewes have lambed, 1 due in January and the last one in February.

Got 15 with ram now, due in March and April.

We can put them together, candlelight dinner, Barry White crooning love songs and we still draw a blank. If you get it figured out, will you let me know?

Lol.
Last year, I had a surprise compact lambing. Nearly all lambed out in 2wks. It was utter chaos! I have no idea how or why it happened. Hasn't happened before. Kind of don't want it to happen again, lol, unless they wait until I down size to just 20 ewes! But 3-4 a day is too much!
