I saw her looking kinda wably one night last week so I went up to her and checked her and she was week. I looked at her eyelids and they are white. I imediatly went got the ivermec and dosed her with it. Started red cell the next day and have for about every day with red cell but she is still whited out. A few days ago I noticed she was getting bottle jaw. I got up to her last night and whited out still, so I thought what the heck Im going to worm her again so I hit her with another 5 ml of ivermec. tonight when I got home from work she is severly bottle jawed. Ive never seen it this bad in a goat or cow.
What should I do next?????????????

Get a white wormer (safeguard or valbazen if she's not bred) and give her double the dose on the bottle for 3 days straight...
After 5 days, Give her ivomec orally, 1 cc per 25#
After 5 more days, the white wormer for 3 days straight again.
Calf manna daily....Red cell daily....

Once they get really, really bad, there is no instant fix....it takes time and work to get them back up to par.

I would do 1cc per 10 lbs on the Safeguard.

If you keep her in a stall, then she would need a friend. It would probably be fine to keep her with the herd. You don't want to stress her out by keeping her by herself.

FWIW, when our doe got bottle belly (fluid settled in her abdomen instead of her jaw b/c she was down), the vet TOLD me to keep her alone / isolated (and she was so bad off at the time, she didn't care) because ANY stress, when their blood is that thin, can cause a heart attack.

If she wants to be w/ the herd...leave her there...if she isn't doing much of anything, I'd say put her by herself.

Just an update, She is doin really good now. I got her goin in the right direction. Today I was going to worm her again just to be on the safe side and she wouldnt let me catch her. (LOL) I will get her tomorrow when its feeding time. Her bottled jaw is decreasing to almost gone.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...nothing pleases me any more than to have to chase a formerly-ill goat in order to administer it's last dose of something.

Good work on her. :thumbsup
