Hiya! Decided to post one of these as I haven't yet gotten around to it!

My name is Michael, I'm born, raised, and residential to West Virginia. My story is that I was given an orphan lamb to raise with virtually zero help and no knowledge on sheep whatsoever.

I'd like to think I've been doing pretty good so far, cause, while a little on the small side, my girl is happy, healthy, and eats like a damn horse. lol

I'm currently in the process of weaning her, and besides some expected uh... No.2 changes, everything is going amazing!

So, yeah! That's basically it. Hi! It's nice to formally meet all of ya! ^^

Been thinking about your little lamb -- and I haven't had to bottle raise (yet) any lambs - but my lil guys and gals start nibbling alfalfa when they are days old. By the time they are a couple weeks old they are already bouncing into the creep feeder to eat as much of it as they want. Of course then they all get sips and sucks at any and every milk bar  (my ewes are pretty tolerant of "neighbor lambs").

Thank you all! I hope to learn as much as I can here so that I can provide the best, or at least as good as I can, care for my little Specks. She's literally the light of my life right now. Never knew I needed her until I had her, and now the only thing I wanna do is make sure she's taken care of to the best of my ability.

Pic from today.

Go to the sheep section of the forum and read as many posts as you can, and you will learn a ton of things about lambs and sheep that you didn’t even know you needed to ask about! This place is great.

That’s exactly what I did, way back before I got sheep, still living in town and wanting a farm!

Your little girl is adorable, looks to be a wool breed. Can you ask the person that gave her to you what breed she is?

I have a bottle baby, Patches. All grown up now, in with a ram for breeding, but always runs to me for love and treats. Recently had visitors with 3 boys. I sent them outside on the front porch. Sheep ran for their lives, but not Patches! She wasn’t afraid one bit, especially after the animal crackers came out! In this picture, Patches is standing on her hind legs reaching for an animal cracker that the oldest boy is holding. Right before her lips touched it, the youngest snatched it from his brother’s hand and he ate it! We all busted out laughing! And yes, Patches got another animal cracker.
