Lulu, age 7 weeks, has a tiny scur on one bud. It is about 1/8 to l/4 inch wide, about l/4th of the bud. It is small now, should I nip it off now and keep it clipped??

Thanks for any imput.

You can keep it snipped as it grows, it is not urgent. I have some bad scurs on my Ginger, and I rarely have to snip them. I just watch them and if they curl back and touch her head, off they come. But she usually knocks them off herself and I don't have to bother. I make it a plan to snip them when I trim her hooves, when they get long enough to touch her skull. She has wide flat one that are a bit wobbly.

Don't snip too close to the head or it will bleed. Take a little off at a time and see how close you can get, or just keep it trimmed a little. No big deal.

Thanks Freemotion for the advice. I will keep an eye on it. We disbudded all three goaties, and so far, Lulu is the only one showing any horn at all.

If it's wiggly, you can pop it off (using your finger nails or something) now, and every time you find it growing...it will eventually quit trying to grow. Yeah, it might bleed a little, but nothing to fret over. If it's not wiggly, I'd reburn it when she's closer to 10-12 weeks.

One of mine has two wiggly scurs. I figured I would band them off when she gets older. It doesn't hurt them to just knock them off?
