Hi - I am going to look at an Alpine female, unregistered. The current owner thinks she is around 2. She is around 50 or so pounds and is about 24" tall at the shoulder. Does this sound about right? And will she grow much in the next year or so? Thanks.

Alpines are a large breed. If she is only 50 lbs. and 24" at the shoulder, she is way too small for a standard Alpine. I am 5'5" and when standing next to a full grown standard dairy doe my hand almost rests on their shoulders. Leading a standard dairy doe by the collar is comfortable for me without stooping over.

I would give this doe a pass. Like Rachels.haven says - she is either a cross or badly stunted. If stunted, stay away from her since it could be a permanent health issue. If she is a cross and you want milk production, you won't get it.
