Hi, I am fairly new to rabbits and I have a question. I am currently starting to breed meat rabbits and I bought a doe about a month to 2 months ago. Well, about 2 weeks ago she stopped moving her right leg and drags herself around. Her other leg she can move but hasnt tried to walk during this 2 week period. She doesnt seem to be in pain, she eats and drinks happily. Now hopefully no one thinks im cruel, but I was told vet expense would be minimum of $400, and therefore, too much for us to spend.
So i did lots of research on line, her leg is not broken because it is not twisted wierd, it looks completely normal, straight. We felt it and there is nothing that feels broken and she doesnt act like she is in pain. Our Farm supply guy said to give her baby asprin for a while to see if she tries to get up on it, didnt happen. So now I dont know what to do, no improvement in this amount of time, but she is still eating and drinking fine. Should I cull her out? I really dont want to, she seems a happy little thing, but I dont want her to live a pitiful life dragging herself around all the time. My husband wants us to keep her alive as long as she is healthy otherwise, and pain free. Any advice? Thanks!
