I am new at being a goat owner so i would like all the help i can get. I was told to use ammonium chloride as a prevention of urinary calculi for my wether but can anyone tell me a dosage to go by? I have read 1/4 teaspoon daily in water but is this correct?

Ammonium chloride is a salt so if you put it in the water it tends to make them drink less water. This is counter productive since they need water to flush their system. Also too much AC can cause ammonia poisoning
If you are feeding a pelleted feed make sure it contains ammonium chloride.

Thanks for the advice. Just so i have it correct if i have a pellet food with it in it then there is no need to put any additional into their water or food? I hear so much about different foods any i currently feed mine pellets and hay is that sufficient or any suggestions? I just like to make sure i am doing all that is needed for them so i will have happy pet goats.

Just get a good grass hay and some loose minerals and that is all your wethers need! Of course fresh water and lots of love and occasional treats once in awhile!

We mix just a pinch of Ammonium Chloride to their minerals, baking soda, and probios each time we fill it up. Alfalfa and grass hay mixed with no grain is actually the best diet for them. No UC yet...knock on wood.

I mix a tablespoon in with their loose minerals, they get it when they go for their minerals, no uc here.
