Its one of the breeds I have heard of but have never seen other then drawings has anyone raised them before and if so what do you like about them and pictures
My uncle gave me three Hereford sows to help me start out: Wilma, Betty and Pebbles. I kept them for about a year and after being unsuccessful at A.I. I sold them at the sale barn and used the money to buy my first Berkshire and a pair of Red Wattle gilts.
I really like the breed, they are easy keepers, calm and as pretty in person as you could hope for. I was at a Team Purebred hog show in February and noticed half a dozen or better Herefords. I nearly came home with a new gilt, there was a nice looking sturdy girl and IF I had a place ready for her- she would have been out in the pasture with everyone else. They are gaining in popularity and are easier to get ahold of than when I had mine.
Doug Loof raises a lot of the seed stock for most breeders. I have found them from coast to coast and they usually bring Berkshire prices.
