I have 2 Nigerian Bucks
and 3 wethers, who just met recently.

The first day the 2 bucks met, it was headbutting all day,
which subsided with the older being the boss.

Next I introduced the 2 wethers to the one wether
I had here already, and it was a couple squeaks
then they just aligned and start browsing together.

Is this related to them being wethers?

or just good chemistry...?

oh yeah, my question is:
If I get a doe and have her near, but out of sight of the bucks,
will they be more vocal trying get her attention?

THANKS!

I can only answer this from my own experience. My buck is in with my 3 does, and he his very quiet, not often you hear anything from him at all, and when you do, its very quiet and squeaky, not what I would have expected.

Even when the does were in heat and he was doing is bucky thing, a little bit louder, but still quieter than any of my does.

In fact one of my does, when the mood takes her, has such a blood curdling, ear piercing screech, almost like a spoiled child stamping its feet.

Just my experience.

I am sure others will give you more information.

My bucks are out of sight of the does but can hear them. They are no louder as a result. I have Nigerian Dwarfs. They have not been through a rut yet though.

My buck blats when he sees me or if I take his horses away. The does are in a yard next to the paddock where he lives with the horses. He doesn't care if they're there or not.

Around here, definitely the does are louder. I hardly every hear the bucks and then only if I remove one of them.

The farm where I picked up my babies last week had a buck pastures alonside the does. And what a buck -- he was the most beautiful one I have ever seen. I hope it comes out in the kids, and their kids as well.

But he WAS noisy. Screamed like a human, almost. It was a bit of an eerie sound. I asked the folks all kinds of questions, and they said they don't have a bit of trouble with him seeing the does. He just runs around making silly faces and little noises when they are in heat. The noise, they said, was because it was feeding time. They said also if they do ANYthing associated with the routine of feeding (if he hears the unlatching of a particular gate or sees them walk toward the barrels, etc) then he sets up that screaming.

So if your bucks are like theirs (and I'm afraid you get all kinds?) then you'd have to worry more about them seeing or hearing the feeding routine than the does.

:)
