Spoke with someone today and she said does can be really loud when in heat until they are bred. Any input?
I am doing as much research as possible before acquiring 2 ND does.
THANKS!!

I live in a neighborhood in the city, so noise is an issue.

I believe noise is "in the ear of the beholder", lol. Mine make noise, when they see me, I find it pleasant and not overly loud. They do not cry 24/7.

Now, I have a 14 week old bottle baby who can scream his fool head off for a bottle. Once he has his bottle and settles down, he's very quiet and nice to play with.

So yes, if you can't stand a little noise, they will be very noisy. If you like the farm sounds, I will say "No, I find them very quiet and calm." Depends on who you ask.

If your neighbors are looking for any excuse to upset you, they will complain, whether it be the noise, smell, or decreased property value.

I like "barn" smell, I work at a Vet Hospital, I have to like it. :p

Mine do not get REALLY loud. They do baa, but not really loud, and I have found that shutting them up in the goat house or letting them be bred usually stops the baaing.

Mine are really quiet between heat cycles and while bred. During those few days during heat cycles though they are pretty obnoxious when they see me. Like they're demanding me to bring them a buck right NOW. They get over it. ;)

Even my loudest nigis couldn't hold a candle to what our nubian was capable of, but they can be pretty vocal so like Melissa said it sorta depends on your opinion of loud. Not a single one of ours bellows for hours on end the way the nubian did. Ever. Never ever. :p

Since I have a buckling in with my girls (no choice :/) I never hear a peep out of them when they are in heat. I have to tell by witnessing their behavior.

I have 2 ND does, and only one of them gets really "noisy"... even then, it is only when she is in heat. I think they are fairly decent on the noise factor. :)
