Noticed a round black/yellow bee buzzing around the horses, mostly around the front legs. It looked like it was trying to sting them, but giving it a very weak try at it. It eventually gave up and went away.
Is this normal? What about the barn or horses would get the little thing interested in them?
There are wasps in there, I sprayed at least 15 nests at the start of summer. Looks like 2 have come back. But no bee hive or similar anywhere.
Ideas?

Most likely a botfly. It was not trying to sting. It was trying to lay eggs. They then bite the horse on the leg, the horse scratches the bite with its mouth, the egg hatches onto the tongue, and the botfly life cycle continues. Check the inside of the front legs. Are there little light yellow eggs sticking there?

Probably a bot fly. If theres little yellow eggs sticking on the legs I found it best to get a grooming block(there usually around $2-$3 in my area) and rub them off. We had some problems with those last year, but this year we havent had any problems at all fortuantely.
