I feed grass hay free choice at all times and feed straight alfalfa hay in the morning and evening. I'm buying some hay and have 2 grass options and was wondering if one might be better (nutritionally) if the hay quality is equal of course. 1: Timothy grass hay 2: Orchard grass hay. If they are pretty close nutrition wise, do goats seem to prefer one kind over the other?

I don't know about nutritionally but my goats do prefer Timothy over Orchard....and prefer Italian rye over all.

They are almost identical in nutrition depending on when the Timothy is harvested.
Being from the southeast we have no access to Timothy so I can't help you with which they prefer. My goats do eat orchard grass but I have a friend who has a few goats that prefer not to.

On average they are about the same. But like all hay it depends on when it's harvested and where it's grown.
