Has anyone had an issue w/ a goat getting the disease caused by deer worms??? I have a billy who startedhowing signs of limping about a month ago. I figured it was due to all the wet weather we have had around here. Maybe causing hoof problems. After a couple days of cleaning his hoof and applying bleach ( which has always helped w/ scald) there was no change. In fact he then began more of a dragging of hind hind leg. Especially when turning he seemed to trip over his own leg. After speaking to other goat people, I am really leaning towards this deer worm issue. It is really hard to find a goat vet around here and also when he does come out it is absolutely a fortune. I could however take a short video of his walk if u think it may help!!! Thank Ypu

I just had 2 goats with what looked like symptoms....one was very week in her back end and not improving after adding selenium and thiamine, and one had lumps that I only saw when we shaved her, but they looked like tracks under the skin, going from her topline down her sides, ending in small lumps.

After much research, I went with
Valbazen, orally 1 cc per 10lb (I had found an article that said they treated deer this way for 2 weeks)
Ivermectin plus (clorsulon is the extra ingredient you need in this one) injected (1 cc for 50lb)
safeguard drench orally (1cc for 5lb) at the same time
I did the ivermectin plus and safeguard for 5 days.

The one with the weakness Raviolianna is doing much better on one hand and not so much on the other. She won't put one back leg down much at all now. I gave her Banamine for the pain and inflammation (prescription from the vet), her other leg though isn't week in the joints anymore and seems much more stable. I have checked her for foxtails and injuries in that leg/foot just in case, but I suspect it is inflammation in her spinal column.....I am crossing my fingers for her.
