bitter because after much dilberation and discussion around my house after the miscarriage of our nubian doe in the mid part of december we decided to sale the goats.... they left today going to another pasture to start a herd for someone else. The cost of food versus the market for goat milk/cheese in my area was the main factor in the decision(another 5-6 months of feed in and nothing going out to help with that cost). kinda sad when I went out to feed the chickens and the goats didn't come running to get fed and I didnt have to knock hard head around for head butting me :D

sweet because now I can devote more time to my chickens and bees and get back into pharoah quail as this will free up feed money for them with faster supply of eggs and meat from them to help with the feed for them.

Hopefully you all are content with your decision. I am sure you will miss them but perhaps it gives you comfort knowing you have been able to help another person start their herd. Focusing on your poultry sure is easier then having to divide your time. Good luck with your poultry! Maybe one dat you will just have 2 lil pet goats. The pygmies and ND's REALLY do eat a lot less than full size dairy goat.

Sorry you had to sell your goats. :( It is difficult having to make those kinds of decisions, but you really have to do what works for you. Maybe some day you will decide to jump back into goats. Good luck with your chickens, quail and bees!
