I have a doe who was born in Jan. I have had her since the end of March. She is back in one of my pens that my daughter calls the teenager pen. Where we keep them till they are big enough to go with the adult goats. I have three other does back there with her also. Yesterday I notice she was a little bloated. I have baking soda back there free choice for them, but she doesn't seem to want it. I have not changed anything since getting her and the others are fine. Is there something else I can do for her. She looks round in the mid section. :(

Are you sure she's bloated or is her rumen just full? If it's bloat, her left side will be abnormally high and full.

I have a doe that I always think is bloated. She's just fat....

Is she still eating hay/grain and drinking water? If so, she's probably just got a full rumen as aggieterpkatie said. If not, and you're concerned for her a baking soda drench might help.

You can also give her one or two Tums... walk her around a while to help things get/keep moving in there. Neither of these will hurt her if she's not really bloated and they can help a lot if she is.

I was out all day and this evening when I feed she still looked the same. She eats and drinks, and play, so I will try the tums in the morning and see if that helps her out. My daughter calls her a little fatty. :D She is still little so I guess it is probably not bloat. She can't get into any extra food or things like that cause we have the food and hay in separate sheds away from our goat pens. Thanks for the info.

I know a lady is not supposed to pass gas BUT that's just what my little Barbie did today! She's a 5 month old bottle baby that I'm trying to wean and when I heard her toot this afternoon after her bottle I laughed, and then I started worrying about why she was passing gas. Is this .... normal?

Perfectly normal.

I mean....a lot isn't normal, but the occasional toot is.
