Hi! We have three Nigerian dwarf goats, all related, two castrated boys and one little doe. I weighed her this morning, she is 60 pounds and she is three years old. I was told to wait until two years old to breed her. We were planning on doing that this year. Now I have people telling me that three years old is too old. Is this true? I would like all the info I can get! Thank you so much

We breed out boers will until they are 5-6 years. I think she will be fine. It is her first pregnancy so you just got to keep and eye for any issues. Usually if the goat doesn’t feel like she can keep the baby she willl just absorb it. That is what pumpkin did this last year.

If she's 8 times her birth weight and a year old you can breed her. Having said that, I prefer to wait until they're 18 months old. They're hardy little creatures and in my experience, excellent mamas so complications are rare.
