I have to take my pair to a breeder about 3 hours away. I want to get them at the right time in their cycle, but think that boarding (at least overnight) would be less stressful for them.

Have any of you done this? Do you think the overnight stay would be warranted? My girls are tested and vet certified, immunized and wormed. The breeders bucks are also. So I think it is pretty safe for both of us. ?

If you know when your girls are in standing heat, then you could take them, have them covered 3 times and bring them back home the same day. But with the length of time you would travel to get them there, if you wanted to leave them overnight, they should be fine.

We traveled about that far to get our does bred. We just got them back. We left them for three weeks just to make sure we had everything covered. The trip up wasn't bad, the trip back was horrible. The girls stunk sooooo bad! I guess that what we get for putting them in the back of our caravan.

That is exactly why there is a stinky buck in my backyard right now. Didn't want to transport stinky does, and the seller dropped him off, and the next buyer will be required to pick him up! :gig

After about 10 minutes, we pulled into a gas station and I ran in and got a strawberry scented air freshener. While it did aid some in covering the odor, at times we would just smell billy goat pee with a hint of warmed strawberry.

That's odd. Our buck's pee smells like strawberries anyway...and rainbows.

Doesn't everybody's buck smell like that?

Does he pass this trait on to his offspring? You could make a fortune in selling bucklings!
