have my black otter buck.
he is proven...hes given me 2 beautifl litters so far, ive another doe sucessfully bred by him...so i know hes not confused...
have 2 does that i want t breed him to this week.
1 doe is a doe who reacently weaned a litter from him, shes been bred before by him no problem everything whent smoothly
the other doe is a 7month old first timer...
i put my experienced doe in first (this way i shoudl have a good surrogate should the other doe be a bad first time momma) he tried...of my goodnes did he try...but no "connection" was made, (was watching), shes not lifting her rumpfor him and hes hitting too high (just about the tail height)
after about 10 minutes it was if hes gotten bored of not hitting the mark as was just ignoring her.
so i took her out, figured id try again tomorrow...
about 6 hours later i tried doe 2, the first timer...again, same issue, hes enthusiatically mounting and humping, but theres no actual connection being made.
this morning i put doe 1 back in...STILL no connection.
im realy confsed by this, hes experienced (and enthusiastic) are the girls just not interested in breeding right now and therefore not lifting for him?!
ive tried "assisting" but then he gets REALY distracted and much more interested in what im doing than what hes supposed to be doing, and the girls are none to happy about that situation either.
is this a case of girls not ready? or a case of "boy hes a dumb lover" and what, if anything can i do to remedy this situation.
Im currently debating just putting 1 doe in with him and leaving her in there for the day, but im not good ad palpating for young, so id then be potentialy waiting a month with no results
these 2 are my last breedings for the season as its going to be getting very hot around here very soon so i want to take july and august off from breeding so the girls arnt raising litters in 90+ degree weather.
