So my ram has been doing the lip curling thing for the past two weeks. I have witnessed his attempts to mount as well.
I have two Shetland girls, one Romney and one Jacobs.
He is currently eight months old going on nine, my question is, and I kinda already know the answer, but what are the chances of him actually breeding the girls this year for next spring?

Yes, he will get the job done, but he might not catch them all on their first heats, which means repeat breedings, which means a spaced out lambing season. I would put a marking harness on him though to verify that he is settling them, especially since he is a ram lamb.

Awesome! That is what I figured, but thank you very much for confirming it for me ;)
Any idea where I can get a good chalk harness?
