I recently got a full box of broccoli crowns, my goats gobble up what I put in front of them... how much would be too much per goat? or is there such a thing as too much broccoli for a goat? :hu

I don't know the answer...never tested it...

My thought would be don't over do it...cause broccoli causes gas in humans, so I'd be worried about excess gas and possibility of bloat in the goat....

I hope this helps...

I recently took out 12 or so broccoli plants and 6 or so cauliflower plants from my garden. The goats found them in the compost and have been picking at them over the last week and a half. Everyone seems to be just fine...and have eaten all the gone-to-flower heads and all the leaves, but have left the hard stem part.

My little herd hasn't gotten any hard stem pieces... like I mentioned above it is a box of broccoli crowns, and any of the thicker stem chunks I give to my dogs! mine like the fiberous veggie stems much more than a bone... and it cleans their teeth & freshens their breath! :D

I start with a cup of chopped veggies twice a day and go up from there. If they are used to veggies and have access to green growing things right now, you could probably double that. Back off if poo gets clumpy. Feed it on the milking stand to any does you are milking so it is less likely to flavor the milk.
