So I bought 2 does (3 year old pygmy and her 1 year old pygmy/boer mix daughter) the daughter has horns. I got a proposal to buy this little wether who was a companion to a friend's buckling. I saw him and fell in love. Well now I have this little guy here and the daughter is trying to head butt him through the fence. He's still little and I am afraid she's gonna hurt him. I didn't realize how little he was until I got him next to my does. What do I do?

How old is the wether? What breed is he? I think everything will be o.k., they just have to establish a pecking order and she's probably just letting him know that she's above him in the order. If they are separated by fence but can see each other, maybe keep them separate until the wether is bigger.

When we brought home a few new kids this year we had an issue with some of the older does butting them hard and not letting them get to the water, hay, and feed. To help give them a safe place to run to while the herd established a pecking order, we made a very small doorway at the bottom of one of our kidding pens that only our little doeling and wether could slip through to get away from the big goats. I put water, hay, and feed in it so they could eat there if the other goats wouldn't let them at the feeder. I had to show them a few times where the door was and played with them to get them running in and out of it, but then it worked very well. After a few weeks, the other goats had gotten over then new additions and we closed it off with a sliding door panel.

Here is a pic of it--you can see the sliding door in place in the bottom left corner of the pen.
