My 1year old buck went from eating his whole dish to just picking out a few pellets. He hasn't drank hardly anything at all either. The 8 week old next to him has drank three times as much as him over the weekend. I took his water bottle and shoot the nozzle just in case there was blockage. He licked it after that for a second. Im hoping that his water was blocked and that is the reason he hasn't ate anything. Im thinking that he is plugged up though. Is there anything I can feed him to act as a laxative?

He is acting pretty normal, shedding a little more than normal though. No bloating.

Does he eat hay? Sorry, I just realized he was a rabbit. I thought her was a goat. :hide :he

Watch his behavior; if he is still active and doesn't seem lethargic, I wouldn't worry as much. If he's not eating and not acting himself, I'd get more concerned. Check under the cage and see if he's pooping normally - size, shape, hardness, frequency.

The suggestion to remove pellets and feed grass hay for a few days is a good one.

For sure do this! We had a doe that just quit eating, wasn't drinking, and I THOUGHT it was the hay - maybe had been sprayed with something bad for her - so I took it away and that only made it worse. Turned out to be wool block and we ended up culling her and discovering it when we did.

Make sure he is pooping and getting LOTS of roughage and hay to help move any hair in the stomach through. I don't know a whole lot about rabbits yet...but I think taking away her hay at that time was her demise....

Good luck with him and keep us posted. :fl

Glad that I found this thread. My buck is kinda in the same situation as yours. He is just not himself. He is not as active as he usually is. His poop is ok. I picked him up and it feels like he lost a little bit of weight. He is not as meaty as he has been. Doesn't look like he is eating and drinking much.

I will do as EggsForIHOP suggests and make sure he has plenty of hay. What other roughage can I give him?
