I have a surplus of pumpkins and cabbage.

Can I feed it to my rabbits as treats?

They currently get hay and pellets and the occasional treats of romaine, apples, etc.

You can give them a little pumpkin, but dont overdue it and yes they can have cabbage .(done some research on this before posting to make sure)

I could see a rabbit eating all the cabbage he wants. If there is a garden, they are going to head straight for it.

Why do you say feed only small amounts of pumpkin?

Their basic food needs to be pellets. Treats come second and in moderation

Yes but just because they could eat all they want isnt a sign they should . They need pellets and hay as their diet(like you said),and treats given in moderation . Given too much of anything can be a bad thing at times, well except hay and water . Even if its vegetables there should still be a limit as to the amount they eat . I will try and find the site again , and post it .

And not to be mean but my dog would eat a whole bag of food if I put it in front of her , but that dosent mean she needs it .

As long as you give them a little pumpkin and some cabbage as treats they should be fine .

Anything in the cabbage family should be fed cautiously. Give only small amounts till they develop the proper intestinal bateria to handle it.
The problem is gas. A rabbit cannot pass gas at either end so the pressure could cause them pain.
