My friend's saanen doe did not take on the first try with the buck. I am wondering if she will go into heat now or if we missed it for the year. The doe is just about a year old and her sister did take on the first time around.

It is my understanding that only Nigerian Dwarf goats are year round breeders but I could be wrong. So the Saanen may have to wait until fall.

Some of my Nubs and most of my boers will breed year round.

It's the swiss (Saanen, Toggs, Obs, etc) that are 'BER' breeders.
(SeptemBER, OctobBER, and so on)

My LaMancha conceived at the end of August.

From my understanding, the tropical breeds (Nubians, Nigerians, Pygmies) can breed year round. The Swiss breeds (Saanen, Obs, Toggs, Alpines) are seasonal breeders like deer to ensure kids are born in spring.
