Hi, I usually hang out over with the chickens but today I had a question that needs something a bit different and maybe you nice folks can help me :D

We are house hunting right now and a large yard is all we are going to manage :( but I dont want to give up on the dream of having a couple of Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats for the kids and I so my question is, can I have a couple of tiny goats as pets in a residential setting? I know people can have pigs, birds, dogs, snakes, turtles, fish and cats as pets but can goats pass muster pet wise?

Thanks

Check with local zoning as every area is different.

If your zoning allows a couple of Nigerian wethers will make great pets. They tend to be much quieter than does in heat. Also wethers don't smell like bucks can.

There are some areas across the country that have passed ordinances allowing Nigerian Dwarves as pets, but not many yet. Check to see if they are allowed in your area.
