If it's plain brown cardboard, then it's fine. But if it has a glossy coat or lots of advertisement on it, then not the best.
I've always used cardboard for my guinea pigs, they eat it until there is nothing but scraps. Also let my rabbits eat cardboard.

After all, it's only paper, which is only wood.

Toilet paper tubes also work for things to chew.

X2 with toilet paper rolls. My bunnies love toilet paper and paper towel rolls. They love to chew and throw it. Then run after it. I even have a tug of war with Dobby. Every time I stick my hand in his crate, he brings me the roll to play. Looks forward to the game, and so do I.

Also you can stuff hay in the toilet paper rolls. They love to tear it apart. Keeps them occupied for hours. :)

Dobby likes his box. I've made it into a house. He likes to rearrange it sometimes. And also can chew on it if he feels like it.

It's funny, if I put a box on the floor, Kreacher jumps in and starts digging. It's amazing what rabbits will find entertaining. And the best part, it's inexpensive! :)
