Hi. I am new to backyardherds but have been a backyardchickens member for some time.
We are currently renting 5 acres and our landlords have 2 horses, 2 donkeys and a ram in the pasture here. It is their family's land and there is an additional 6 acres that is adjacent and fenced that the animals have access to.

I have poultry and waterfowl in a chicken coop and currently have a ~ 50' X 50' run for them. I want to give them more area to range and I want to fence off part of the pasture to keep the equines out. Because we are renting, I don't want to go to a great expence. One side of the pasture is fenced for poultry but the last tenants tore down the rest of the poultry fencing.

I am not concerned about the birds being able to get into the pasture I just want to have an area where the horses, donkeys and ram can't access.

There is an electric fence charger (?) here that is not being used and a reel of wire and the post conectors for it but no posts. My landlord does not care what I do.

any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

I'd buy the posts and go for the electric since a good portion of what you need is already there. That would likely be your cheapest route.

Thanks for the reply. I am not experienced with horses etc, how many wires and at what height should they be?

The ram is pretty good size, probably about 3' tall maybe more. I'm not sure of the breed and he doesn't get close.
