One of my 8-10 week old goats got into the feed room the other day and I did not notice he was in there when I closed the door. He was in there all day long and ate some chicken feed. I don't know how much he ate. I do know he is not a big grain eater even at feeding time with the other goats. He seemed fine when he came running out of the room. Immediately ran to mom for a drink of milk. Yesterday and this morning he seemed fine. Tonight he did not seem hungry and did not eat any hay with the others but then again he has access to all the clover and grass he could want all day. He is alert and does not seem to be hurting but I am still concerned about him. How long does it take for a goat to show signs of being sick from eating chicken food?

enteroxemia can take a couple days to set in, I would get a temp on him. Enterotoxemia will run a high temp.
you can give him some baking soda,
If he is running a temp, give him high dosages of Penn G both orally and injected, baking soda orally and look for C&D antitoxin. Pepto bismo can also help with the bacterial growth of over eating disease.

He still seems fine but he must have gotten a belly ache because he is no longer trying to get into the feed room. Wonder how long that will last?
