I just started experimenting with this method of training.

Do any of you have any tips or experiences to share?

Try to "shape" behaviors instead of forcing them. For example, put a box in the pen then click and treat whenever the goat glances toward the box. Don't say anything, just click and treat. After a little bit, the goat will get the idea that if he looks at the box and he gets a treat. When he get this part down, then when he glances at the box don't click. He may start getting frustrated and take a set towards the box. Click and treat. Continue this until you have him putting one foot, all his feet or whatever into the box.

Hope that makes sense!

One of my sisters trained a few day old lamb to lay down and another sister trained one of the other sheep to touch her hand when she says "touch" and also to jump (aka step) through a hula hoop.

Just in 30 minutes of work yesterday, I got him to where he would touch my hand with his nose when I said "target". This morning, I got him to rear on command, by giving him "target" with my hand help up high......then when he would rear I'd say "ally oop" and click with the treat.

The speed of learning is amazing!

I agree. The speed at which my goats learn new things amazes me. We started putting the two preggers goats into their kidding pens inside a building on Tuesday of last week. By last weekend, they had it down pat to go in that door, and then into the correct pens. None of them had ever been in that building before. The same with Elsie. I started milking her last Wednesday morning. She now goes to the milking stand and up the ramp and sticks her head into the stantion with little or no coaching from me. One or two repetitions of something and they 'got it'. I love goats.
