Hi guys,

I really wish there was another way to treat for cocci besides drenching with Albon/Dimethox.

Is there any kind of SQ/IV treatment??

I feed medicated feed, but with this weather, it seems like we must do it once a month till frost?

Yikes, it TASTES SO BAD!!

My goats love the Albon that I pick up from my vet...it has a vanilla scent and smells sweet...it's also really sticky (a thick yellow liquid). I don't have any problems getting them to take it. :/

I have been using powdered Di-Methox (but will be changing because my cocci are resistant) and found that if I dissolve it in pancake syrup instead of water, the kids come running once they know what I'm bringing them. I squirt it in their mouths and they ask for more. That stuff DOES taste bad, I accidentally got some in my mouth once, YUCK.

Yeah, I've got an older wether who doesn't get dosed with Albon but thinks he has to have it  It must smell and taste yummy to them because they will grab hold of the syringe and I have to fight to get it back.

What is the dosage for Albon and how many days? My vet has 16oz bottles and I want to know if that's too little or too much for 4 kids treatment.
Would the moms need to be treated also?

2.5 ml per 5# day 1
1.25 ml per 5# days 2-6

(1 oz = about 30 ml)

eta: I only treat kids not the moms

You *really* pay for that custard flavor, and it's weaker than what we generaly use, so you'll be going through a lot of it.

If money's not a concern, sure, use Albon.. If it is, well...they'll get over the bad taste, I promise.
