@Margali you should get a propane heater. The propane company will run a line for you, not free, but it will help on the electric bill. More importantly it will heat the house or at least the living area during a power outage. My light bill last month was $89. I set the thermostat on 66 on central heat. Without the heater, bill would be $250 to $300 during real cold weather. Once I get the living room and kitchen warm, I cut it down to the pilot light. Also, if you don’t have them, get some Tac lights. Pretty sure Harbor Freight has them.
Don't worry about me and the cold. :tongue I grew up hiking near St. Louis, MO playing in the ice and snow. We have 0F sleeping bags for each human, a triple fuel generator, extra 100gal propane tank, electric space heater, propane space heater, and fully charged Milwaukee batteries for our lights. The only think we don't have is a battery backup for hubby's CPAP which means poor sleep but nothing worse.

Bad weather...everywhere. more rain here Fri/Sat. 😳
Disclaimer right now yes, bad weather everywhere.,
I was just listening to the NATIONAL MANDATORY commercials on the rad io. The ohhhhh my goodness were all dying from historic weather changes. They were talking about last year was the hottest ever and we are on track in January to have a repeating year. Funny thing is HERE last year was not nearly as hot as many, many others in the last 20 and according to the weather channel that is almost always right about here, 3/4's of the nation is going to be below normal in January and the central half being Waaaay below normal for the next week. Like our normal 28 low to 40's high will be 5 for the low and 20 for the high. Darned global warming is not going to help me carry buckets of warm water.
. Rooster Cogburn got the El Kabong treatment after flogging me at feed time tonight. He crumpled. Thought he was a goner. Later seen strutting around the pasture. I’ll probably find him crowing next to a pile of dead coyotes in the morning.
My grandma had some extra roosters when I was a kid. Not knowing then they were just extras and that's why they were not in the coop. One would wait until you got past it and flog ya. I started carrying a piece of a broom stick and I'd just turn around and knock him out with a little tap on the head. I'd go and check the eggs, water, etc... and he'd be stumbling around when I was done. One day he came pretty hard and so was his hit. I was sooooo worried I was in trouble. I did the chores, brought the eggs in and washed them, came back out and he was still out. I was so worried about getting in trouble for killing her rooster. Hind sight, at most we would have just ate it, but then I was scared to death. 20 minutes longer than normal he finally started to move. 1st with his head on the ground and but in the air then finally got his baring's.

You can get battery backup for a Cpap machine???? Where???? My FH also uses a CPap but he bought a small converter for when he is out due to snow, sleet, freezing rain and all good NASTY YUCKY stuff. I would love to have a battery backup for the house just in case the power ever went out.

There's 1-2 cups left in the pot and it's FRESH HOT and READY. Just don't get scared if you hear banging and swearing seeing how in a few I have to start rearranging the house by myself seeing how we're getting our new KING bed today.

You can buy a CPAP specific one or use a special DC to DC converter / inverter with normal deep cycle battery. This website about halfway down has the Resmed guide on how to use a normal battery. You should be able to get the special converter for any brand. https://www.resmed.com/en-us/sleep-apnea/sleep-blog/cpap-batteries-and-adaptors/

🥴 peanut butter sandwich...water heating for instant coffee. Power still out. Winds are steady 20+ with big gusts. Large area out & really don't expect fix for several hours with winds. Glad temps weren't low last night. Inside is cool but ok. Bundle up. 😂

Hardest part is DON'T use water....😳. Plenty bottled but, you just reach for that lever! 😏 no, no, no.

Feed chores will be late. Nobody wants to leave barn or house. Prob still had hay from last nights fill up, cause it was packed full as it could get.

ETA -- this hot ☕ makes it seem normal!🤣
