Frosty outside today, typical November for us.
Almost done with school, but got a couple of tests tomorrow, so studying now and will spending a while studying after church.
Took my car to get my tires swapped on Thursday, and noticed the indicator light turned on Friday, took a chance figuring it was 50/50 that it was serious. Found it flat last night, so I guess I am going back to the tire shop tomorrow to get it fixed.

Thanksgiving is coming up, does anyone have any pie recipes you recommend trying?

My mom's recipe choice, but my alteration is I use heavy whipping cream instead of milk. It just melts in the mouth...

Our abbreviations:

t = teaspoon
T = Tablespoon
C = cup(s)
pkd br = packed brown
gran = granulated
cinn = cinnamon

Seven kids in the back, two adults in the front. Bet if a tire blows out there would be 9 white crosses on the side of the road. Here in Montana they put white crosses where people are killed in accidents and I have to say sometimes I have to ask myself, how in the F you manage that one, that took talent to get killed there.

Kune root, just not as much or as deep with the short snout. Good meat. So NO if you just want cute pet. Ok if you're looking for freezer fill taking 12-14 months to be full sized. 🤣 They are good grazers but, you don't have so much grass & sheep do the browse. All pigs wallow! They don't sweat, need to be cool.

Really???? Think hard.

Glad you got to visit old friends & eat well. 🥰

I am with Mini....

A few years back we got 2 Kunekunes. We do NOT have the pasture size you need, WITH a good fence. Which means that they rooted, worked hard to lift up fence with their noses and other such trouble. And we had to buy lots of feed for them.

Also... SLOW GROWING. Insane slowness!!! "Regular" pigs grow huge and grow fast. You can buy little ones in the spring amd butcher a huge beast come fall.

The Kunekunes are very slow growing. AND they are super heavy on the fat. So, the sausage from them had way more grease than I like. There is fat in the meat (marbling) but also a huge thick fat layer under the skin. We STILL have fat left over from them. Not a bad thing really... we just used a bunch of it with the bear we shot this fall (bear meat is ultra lean).

But... never again.

If we decide to raise up another pig, it will be another "regular" type.

Yikes. That's a lot of straps in strange places to be a safely tied down load. More crosses might be needed if something fails.
Technically need bigger trailer, way overweight, not enough seat belts for the kids and chains with binders are used with machinery such as that. Every 10 feet a chain at minimum grade 70 5/16" thick chain, so that would be about 3 chain load. I'm sure those wheel chocks are legit when they fly off into someones windshield too.

That trailer load looks like a mattress on the car roof :eek: an accident waiting for a place to happen. Just waaay worse.

Usual cool morning. Coffee just finished brew, so having some before chores. Weather says a little bit of rain the night into Wed. Light dousing. That's fine. Working all week- surprise. :rolleyes:

Waiting on thunderstorms. I’m glad they’re daytime storms so I can see where Moses shelters, barn or doghouse. I’m testing my weather radios too. Barn winterizing nearly done, round bales distributed in the pasture (with care). I’m glad to be caught up with Hubb’s help. Three years living here we are about done shaking down and have pretty solid routines.
