Since I have seen them on so many goats, I have to ask. What is up with the plastic chain collars? I assume it is to help with show training as I have seen something similar on show goats. Are they better than a regular dog collar for them and can you walk them on a leash with those on? Lastly, where so you get them? We currently just have a regular dog collar on our kids.

People like to use them because they break off easy, so that way if a goat gets caught, it will break. You can get dog collars that clamp together, they will break loose too. That is what I use for my goats, but I only put them on when we are walking somewhere. Not sure about the leash, never used one. You can order them. Not too sure where. I just know because a friend uses them. I can ask.

You can get the breakaway chain collars at Hoegger's Goat Supply. If you call them, they will send you a terrific goat catalog, with lots of stuff and goat information.

I like the heavier ones. I have gotten both weights of collars but I like the heavier ones.

You need the collars on so you can make them go where they're supposed to.

They breakaway kind are best because if they manage to get the collar stuck on something they won't/can't hang themselves.

Goats can get into LOTS OF TROUBLE quickly it seems.

I'm guessing they have different sizes for the smaller goats and all that too. I've written the names on the collars too. My dad has done it with his does they all have a collar on with their name written on it. Makes it easier for him to remember names and keep up with them.
