Concerned about the cold

I just got two babies about 2 months old. My husband tells me the dog crate is enough protection in the cold. It is currently 25 here in Oklahoma and the wind is 25 miles per hour. I'm concerned they will get cold and sick. I put a blanket over the crate to try to get them out of the wind. Should I be concerned for them or are they ok in the cold?

What kind of baby? Where is the crate?

If the dog crate is outside in weather you say, only ice cubes are ok in there.

At least sides. Inside a buildg is better. This is a tiny breed, young, too. Got a laundry room? Really it's too cold out there for them! Generally they'd have mom to snuggle and even that isn't always enough. IF they must stay out, fill the crate with straw or hay to help retain body heat!!!!!!!! I would have them inside.

Agree! Pygmy babies don't have enough body mass to survive that kind of cold without adequate shelter. Garage, laundry room, closed in barn would be better. Lots of hay to snuggle down in or as a last resort, if you can safely arrange it - a heat lamp at least.

A heat barrel is a great solution.
