I have 4 acres. Im looking to get a dairy breed of goat. Right now im leaning towards nubains but am looking at nigis as well. I will be milking them. I am wanting to get enough milk that i can use it for just about everything. I have only two arcs that will be fenced and divied up for rotation. I will be haveing a buck as well but he will be on the other two. I will be moving him around the rest with netting. I am wondering which of these two breeds would work best. If i got the nigis what would i sell the weithers for? The nubains weithers i'd sell for meat or break to pack & drive. Or would they get along together? What are your thoughts?

The Nigerians and Nubians would get along together. It really depends on how much milk you want. Nigerians give about a quart of milk per day and Nubians give about a gallon of milk per day. Also, you would not be able to breed a Nubian buck with a Nigerian doe but you could breed a Nigerian buck to a Nubian doe.

It also depends on how many goats you want. You can have more NIgerians than larger breeds. But what sells in your area makes a difference too.

So not sure if I helped at all. It really depends on how much milk you want, how many goats you want to have and what sells well in your area.

I prefer to milk Nubians, they're teats are easier...but if you're planning to use a milk machine, that won't much matter.

It really does depend on what you want / need...

We began with nigerians for 4H and possible milking, then we got a couple nubians (because they are so cute). Nubians are soooooo much easier to milk that nigerians. The amount of milk and the size of the teats of the nubians makes it a much easier and pleasant ordeal. I love both breeds, but for milking, I would choose the nubians.
Just my opinion.

depends on where you live--i found Nubs to be non winter hardy-hard keepers in cold and wet-My LaManchas and the occasional Saanen are way easier in MN
