So, I was shearing my year old wether last nite- cleaning up his belly and neck, really. As I was trimming his belly, I noticed the wool surrounding his pizzle was matted and crusty. There were no flies present and his skin didn't look irritated. His pizzle appeared to be a little damp, but I'm not in the habit of observing it so I really can't compare it to any other time. Also, his sack was pretty greasy and dreaded. I didn't attempt to shear it- should I?

(I was kind of embarrassed to post these questions but I know there is NO way I'll try googling it)

Google, "Urinary Calculi" in goats.

I'd be getting him on some ammonium chloride ASAP. At least it sounds like he's passing the crystals ok.

The sack sound mostly like it was just dirty from lanolin. There are two glands in his "armpits" back there.
