i had my two alpine nigerian cross kiddies disbudded at a local veterinarian. after a few weeks my buckling needed to be 'redone'. he looked awful but now looks like he is going to be ok. however, now my little doeling is showing a little flimsy hornlike growth ( it has the feel and appearance of toe nail?) should i just cut it off and keep cutting off until it shows no regrowth? or should i have her disbudded again? (different vet next time) has anyone had any experiences that will help me? please advise. thanks so much for this forum!

You COULD have another vet reburn, but if they are only tiny scurs, you don't have to.

If, they show signs of growing a lot longer and misshapen, then by all means get a new vet to reburn.

Disbudding goats is traumatic and the first time DH and I did it we had scurs, not really bad ones, but scurs. If it is tiny, I'd just cut it off, spray with Blue Kote or Vetercin and watch it.

That was 4 years ago. Now we do it and it's routine.

DH does it and knows just what we want now. He actually with burn til we can see white, but you have to be very careful and not burn through the skull to the brain or you will have major problems.

Can you post pictures?
