I have a Nubian doe that has kidded at least 3 times. 2 times for me. She was dried up when I bought her from a family that sold milking shares. They told me they were selling her because they wanted to concentrate on Lamanchas. The first year I tried to milk her she fought so much I finally gave up. This year she has been much better. She is letting me milk her with out too much fuss. However now I have noticed that she is not giving very much milk. I separated her from her twins for 24 hours to see how much she was producing. I only got 2 quarts of milk from her. That is about the same amount I get when they are separated for 12 hours. Could she be nursing from herself when she gets full? Her babies are growing just fine and I would think they would need more than a quart of milk in a 24 hour period to grow and not look skinny. I have put tape on her teats to keep the babies from nursing when they were younger and somehow the tape was pulled off most days when I went to milk. Would the babies be able to get the tape off? I taped from the udder down the teat and back up the other side to the udder and then put a second piece of tape around the teat and it was still pulled off. Any thoughts?

She is not holding her milk. I massage her udder and it is small and soft when I finish milking her.
