My doe, that kidded a few days ago, has a couple hard lumps on one side of her udder. They are not hot, overly sensitive and the kids are still nursing form that side. I have milked her and massaged the lumps. I'm not thinking this is mastitis as she is not hurting and the milk looks fine. No, I have not doe a mastitis test, yet. She is eating and acting completely normal. Any suggestions?

keep up with the massages and I would strip that side of the udder after the kids are finished, just to be sure nothing changes...eventually they should take care of it themselves...If you think there might be an internal problem, it can't hurt to drench the doe with 30 cc or so of her own milk a couple of times...if there is a mastitis problem she will begin to build up cells to fight it before it becomes a real problem...Ok everyone hold your fire...thats JMO...I do it to all my does as soon as they are out of colostrum and into milk...Can't hurt...Think it over you will agree in the basic principle but Who Knows?

Drench her with 30cc's of her own milk? I've never heard of doing that. It's worth a try.
