the new doeling is 24 hours old and has a stomach that is full at times. in the next 48-72 hours the stomach should fill out more and get plump if everything is going well. however my concern is because the mother is not showing much udder. as of now the doeling appears normal but im watching carefully to make sure the mama will come in to fuller udder. 3-5 days before udder should be coming in? in the mean time i guess i will introduce bottle feeding just in case. pls share wisdom and insights on this situation. thanks so much for this forum!!

If her stomach feels full, she's not crying or trying to nurse constantly she's probably getting enough. In a perfect world, mama's udder will keep up with demand. I have a doe that kidded with twin bucklings yesterday - and her udder didn't look very full until this afternoon. Newborns don't eat a lot. And, if your doe is only feeding one, she shouldn't have any trouble feeding her.

I agree! But just for good measure, I'd give extra grain and good hay or very rich grass to the doe to make sure she comes into her milk.
