Does anyone use a tattoo pen?

Hi all. I have had my pb nubians for two years now and will be experiencing my (and their) first kidding in April. I am anxiously putting my supplies together for the upcoming birthing, weaning, milking...experience. I have the kidding kit mostly collected and am looking at tattooers. Does anyone use a tattoo pen rather than the traditional pliers with numbers/letters? The pros to the pen seem to be not having to worry about keeping sets of numbers/letters on hand and switching out, but I am concerned that the pen might be a longer more painful procedure for the kids. (Pliers allow stamp once and be done)
