Because I'll be knee deep in placenta and kids...

So far this week: Ob buck bred 3 does (only 2 are mine), Nub buck bred 2 does, and the Boer boy took care of 3....all w/in 3 days of eachother.

Can't they space these things out a little more, for goodness sake???

Last year we had quads, trips, then twins in 12 hrs.....This year isn't looking any better.
Silly goats.

And they probably all settled during those breedings. They do that group kidding just to drive us nuts. That's why I control all of my breedings. I need time to spend with the kids, and if there's a whole herd of them, it's impossible to give them much individual attention. So far I've got 4 bred (possibly 5) and they've settled, so kids will begin arriving in January and the first part of February. I'm waiting until October to get four more bred.

Well I guess Congrats? :)

I would think it would be much like human females? You know if youre around another female long enough your cycles will become almost the same... (have yall heard of that?)
Or do goats have a season?

Oh, that IS controlled breedings...I have 30 does, only 7 are in with bucks...I just can't make them cylcle 2 days apart, like I'd like.
I have to have all our kids born by March or they won't sell well (4-H fair here is in June so the kids have to have time to grow).

The PLAN was that they'd be in w/ the boys for a while, start cycling, get bred a few here, few there, a few days apart.
Unfortunately they didn't read the plan book...:(

I started breeding in July, these are the last of them.
The good thing is I got to see the deed be done, so at least I'll know when they're due. I hate the sneaky night breeders you never see...

I was going to pat you on the back for getting it over and done with! The worry, the happy, the scared, the waiting! You get it all over with in one fell swoop! I am tickled PINK when I can get it done with in three months!

Good luck and happy kidding!
