So...when I feed my ducks after dark, I can't tell how receptive they are to it. It seems like they don't eat it if I put it out after dark. Well maybe more like they eat some but leave a lot.

So I wanted to ask about this.

Does this mean you are shooting yourself in the foot to feed ducks after dark?

I can't tell how much they are eating. I stand there and watch them, but it looks like they nibble a little and then nothing.

This wasn't an issue until now where it gets dark so early. (I didn't feed them really late, it was only about 6:45 PM.)

Wondering what you all think.

I know my ducks and geese are awake all night. So I try to make sure their food and water are topped up before lock up time. (If the chickens’ food and water are empty/low at lockup it doesn’t matter because they won’t need it until morning anyway.) Some nights the ducks and geese eat everything, and some mornings a lot is still there. But I never stand there and watch to see if they eat. They just get to free feed all night if they want to.
